Below are some brief guidelines that will help make this a smooth and successful year!
Dismissal
I want to make sure every child gets home the right way. Dismissal procedures used to send students home everyday will NOT change unless I have a written note from parents or you have emailed myself, or the office by noon. Please attach notes on a separate sheet of paper and send in your child's agenda. I like to keep the notes by the door so I don't forget - so please don't write dismissal changes in the agenda only. Thanks for your help in getting everyone home easily.
Snacks
Please pack your child a healthy snack each day. Juice boxes are not allowed during snack . Water ONLY, please! If you send in an orange, please peel it for your child. Students continue learning during snack time, so please keep this in mind as you pack your child's snack . I do not maintain snacks in the classroom so please send an individual snack daily for your child.
Lunch
Our lunch time is from 11:05am-11:30. We would love to have you come enjoy lunch with us! If you intend to come to lunch, please make sure your child either has brought a lunch to school or is going to buy lunch at school. You may meet your child in the lobby and then walk into the cafeteria with us as we come around the corner. You may sit in the cafeteria either with the class, side tables (labeled parent table) or at the tables outside. Due to the limited amount of space in the cafeteria, and the amount of students that we have, your child may only eat with your child. Sharon is a growing school, and visitor space is limited. If you choose to eat outside at the picnic tables you may only take your child.
Birthdays
We want to make sure everyone feels special on his or her birthday! The children get a birthday pencil from the office. Parents may drop off store bought, NUT FREE treats in the office for the class to shared at lunch. Please help us be consistent with the school guidelines. We promise your child will still come home happy!
Agendas/Take Home Binders
Agendas and Take Home Binders will go home every night, Monday - Friday. Agendas are for communication between parents and the teacher, and for students to write down important upcoming dates. I will communicate any concerns and good news through the agenda and through email. Please initial next to any note that I write to you so I know you have seen it. I will do the same. As previously mentioned, please attach all dismissal changes in the agenda on a separate piece of paper. Please be sure to check and clean our your child's blue folder nightly for any important papers.
Homework:
Reading & Response Journals: Read 20-30 min. each night. Complete one Response Journal entry per night. Journals are due every Friday.
Math: Every Monday, your child will receive a math homework assignments to be completed by Friday. Math homework is intended to be completed with your help to teach your child to think mathematically. All homework is to be completed by Friday.
Parent Volunteers
We love to have parents lend a helping hand. As opportunities become available I will notify parents through my communication forum, Classtag.
Behavior
All students are expected to follow the Sharon School SOAR expectations and guidelines listed below. I use clip charts to monitor class and individual behavior daily. Students will complete a Fix-it-Plan to reflect on their inappropriate behaviors and make a plan to be successful for the rest of the day. Plans require parent signature and should be returned the next day.
Sharon School Guidelines:
1. I will respect myself, others and my environment.
2. I will come to school prepared and ready to learn.
