Happy Sunday Parents!
I hope everyone has enjoyed this short but sweet weekend.
This week the students really enjoyed visiting the book fair. They have been so excited to read their new books! Thank you to those who donated books to our classroom as well. It will be fantastic reading them together. Seeing the students excited to read made my teacher heart so happy.
Last week I sent home our field trip permission slip forms. If you have not done so yet, please fill out the bottom portion and return to school.
This coming week we have some exciting things happening. October 1st is Fall Picture Day. I sent home picture order forms last week. If you would like to order pictures the order forms must be returned by October 1st. You may also use the only order form.

October 4th is the FLY Pep Rally. Hopefully, some of our friends in class will win prizes at the rally. Thank you to all who have supported the FLY program!
Here's what we've been working on and what's to come:
Math: We've finished working on unit 1 (Understand Addition and Subtraction). This week we will start our unit 2- fluently adding and subtracting within 10. In this unit we will also work on counting on to add, working with doubles/near doubles, facts with 5 on a ten frame, adding in any order, counting back to subtract, thinking addition to subtract, solving word problems within 10, and problem-solving.
Social-Emotional: We will continue reviewing our procedures for our cooperative structure: "Think, Pair, Share" and continuing to work on our communication skills: listening and responding to what other people say.
Literacy: The students will continue working in rotations (A.I.R, Buddy Reading/Fluency, Writing, Word Work) while I work with small groups of students. During whole group module lesson, we are building upon our literacy and character analysis as we engage in close read-alouds of literature. During this series of lessons, the students continue to analyze how characters' actions and words reveal habits of character. The students will engage in asking and answering questions specific to the characters' words and actions, examining vocabulary from the text, and the connections between the illustrations and the text. Students will work to write responses to some focused questions.
