Hi Parents,
Friday was a fun-filled day! The students got to experience some great things!
Thursday, October 11th, is Curriculum Night. Beginning at 5:30, there will be two back to back thirty-minute sessions. This will allow parents with multiple children to visit each classroom. Each session will provide the same information about the curriculum. Parents may email me with questions after the session and I'll respond within twenty-four hours. Curriculum Night is for parents only. There is a link to the presentation on my website in the event that you are unable to make it.
I will send out a Parent-Teacher conference schedule via Sign Up Genius, later this week. Most conferences will take place on Wednesday, October 31st. That is a teacher workday.
Literacy: We will continue to focus on reading workshop routines. We will identify elements of a story, ie. character, setting, problem, and solution.
Writing: We will continue to practice writing workshop routines and begin to write personal narratives. Our focus will be on writing a clear beginning, middle, and end.
Math: We'll learn and practice different strategies for adding and subtracting.
Science: We will learn what animals need to live and how those needs are met in their habitat.
Important Dates:
Thursday, October 11th-Curriculum Night 5:30
Friday, Oct. 26th-Storytelling Festival and Fall Party
Tuesday, Oct. 30th-Riverbanks Zoo Field Trip
Please remember to renew your volunteer clearance through the CMS website. In addition, all visitors must sign in at the office using our computer for the Lobby Guard program to receive a name tag. You must have a name tag and visitor clearance before you may walk down the hallways or visit any part of the school including the playground. You will need to bring a driver's license to scan when you use the Lobby Guard program.
Ms. Finch
